Tier Site Sanitation

OSHA job site toilet rules, simplified

OSHA rule 29 CFR 1926.51 sets toilet counts for construction sites. Here is what it means for your crew.

2 / 8

20 or fewer workers: 1 toilet

A crew of 20 or fewer needs at least 1 toilet on site, per OSHA Table D-1.

3 / 8

Over 20 workers: per 40

With 20 or more workers, OSHA calls for 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers.

4 / 8

200 or more workers: per 50

Large sites with 200 or more workers need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers.

5 / 8

Handwashing is required too

OSHA 1926.51(f) covers washing facilities on job sites. Pair units with a hand-wash station or sanitizer, and a heated station in winter.

Service matters as much as count

One standard unit serves about 10 workers on a 40-hour week with weekly service. Bigger crews need more units or twice-weekly service.

7 / 8

Billed per 28-day cycle

Construction units bill every 28 days with weekly pumping, cleaning and restocking included. No long-term contract. Call or text for pickup.
